A good 19th century sailor-made model of the East Indiaman Thomas Coutts 1817.
Hull from solid timber, painted black to the waterline, with painted port line and red wale. Gilded figurehead and decorated trail boards and stern. Varnished decks, with eleven brass cannon on wooden carriages. Other details include anchors, cable and windlass, ship's boats on deck and davits, wheel and binnacle.
