the armour clad knight holding a lance over his right shoulder, the head of his steed clad in a shaffron, on naturalistic rectangular base, signed A. Hufsmann fec, on shallow marble plinth, 50.5cm high, 51cm wide, 23cm deep

  • Hussmann was renowned for his equestrian and racing bronzes, including dynamic figural groups of classical figures with horses and Amazonian horsemen, some cast by the Gladenbeck foundry in Berlin. A collection of such work can be found in the Krupp'sche Villa in Esseu. Hussmann studied in Berlin under W. Friedrich and P. Meyenheim.
