Footnotes

  • Octagonal marginal wall mirrors from the early 18th century are notably rarer than arched or rectangular examples. This is corresponds to the apparent lack of published designs for English mirrors of the period which parallel the form of the present lot. A Queen Anne mirror of a similar configuration but with a simple moulded frame, sold Bonhams, London 15 June 2011, lot 6.
