A large William IV rococo revival carved giltwood overmantel mirror
The shaped rectangular plate within an acanthus carved frame surmounted by a central ho-ho bird with a 'C' pierced scroll flanked by acanthus leaves, with pierced trailing leaf carved sides, on 'C' scroll rocaille and flowerhead carved apron below, 237 high, 154cm wide, (93" high, 60.5" wide).

  • Provenance: Purchased by Captain Oswald Beale in the late 1930's from a house sale in East Kent. It has subsequently hung in the entrance hall of Sissinghurst Farmhouse at Sissinghurst Castle, Kent which Beale originally rented from Vita Sackville-West and her husband Harold Nicholson.
