Miniature Furniture: A late 18th century Vizagapatam table cabinet
In two parts, profusely engraved with stylised flowers and scrolling leaves, the rectangular moulded top above a pair of doors, inlaid with stylised flowers with mihrab arabesques, enclosing twelve short drawers, the sides similarly inlaid, the lower part with three short and two long drawers on a plinth base and shaped bracket feet, 38cm wide, 20cm deep, 43cm in diameter, (14.5" wide, 7.5" deep, (16.5" in diameter,

    The above lot is unusual in taking the form of a miniature press cupboard. Table furniture from Vizagapatam is more commonly seen in the form of miniature bureau cabinets (such as that brought to England by Alexander Wynch, Governor of Fort St.George and now in the Royal Collection and an example sold Bonhams London, 15 March 2007, lot 148), table bureaus (see Bonhams London, 13 June 2012, lot 84) or table cabinets (see Sotheby's New York, The Lily and Edmond J Safra Collection,3 November 2005, lot 142).

20% from £50,001 to £1,000,000 the Hammer Price
12% from £1,000,001 of the Hammer Price
