  • Beaumont was a life-long communist sympathiser and produced this work as a proposed cover design for 'The Communist'. The editor, Sir Francis Meynell (1891-1975) was a friend and supporter of Beaumont's work. Meynell edited 'The Communist' pamphlets and journals between early 1921 through to February 1923, when he left to found The Nonesuch Press, whose publications of poetry and literature were characterised by superb typography and high quality abstract detailing.
