Footnotes

  • This work is sold with a photo-certificate of authenticity from Madame Marina Ferretti.

Lilliane Lévy was the wife of Gaston Lévy, patron of Signac's series of watercolours of French ports. The most beautiful book in the world referred to in the inscription on this work was, in the artist's opinion, Stendhal's Mémoires d'un touriste.
