  • The chair's backrest is inscribed in old Slavic with a famous Russian proverb which translates as 'The slower you go, the further you get'.

    The form is derived from 17th century Russian folk furniture and was originally produced by Shutov in 1870 for the All-Russian Manufacturing Exhibition, held in St Petersburg.
