For the Chinese Market: A first half of the 19th century open face pocket watch, by Bovet Fleurier
The white enamel dial with black Roman numerals, outer scale 0-60 and centre seconds hand, to a white precious metal case stamped '0,875', the signed skeletonized movement profusely engraved with scrolls, case and dial numbered '1793', with Chinese character signatures, case diameter 5.6cm.

  • Bovet Fleurier was established in London in 1822 by Édouard Bovet and specialized in producing pocket watches for the Chinese market during the first half of the 19th century. Bovet were renowned for manufacturing highly decorative movements with skeltonized views and dominated the popular southern Chinese market at this time.
