Footnotes

  • The 1842 catalogue bears the ownership inscription of John Peisley, who was the founder of Horne & Sons of Hounslow, estate agents, auctioneers and surveyors, and predecessors of Horne and Harvey of Mayfair. A copy of a letter (dated 1988) from Edwin C. Horne is loosely inserted, indicating that the catalogue remained in the family until then.
