Footnotes

This copy seemingly belonged to William Sancroft, Archbishop of Canterbury (1617-1693), with his gilt arms on the covers. In 1664 he was made chaplain dean of St. Paul's Cathedral. Upon his appointment he invited a group of architects, including John Webb (a pupil of Inigo Jones, whose book on Stone-henge he had edited), to discuss plans for the repair of the cathedral building.
