Premiere [-seconde] partie des antiquités dans la collection de sa majesté le Roi de Prusse à Sans-souci, 2 parts in one vol., first edition, engraved vignette by Bornigoroth (1763) on title of part one, woodcut ornament on title of part 2, 24 engraved plates by L. Krüger of Potsdam, some spotting, ink note on provenance "From the library of Count Louis Apponyi, of Nagy Appony, Hungary. He died at Vienna in 1889" on front free endpaper, blindstamp in the margin of title and 2 plates, contemporary calf-backed boards, worn with some loss to spine, folio, Berlin[-Danzig], Frederic Guillaume Birnstiel[-J.H. Floercke], 1769-1772

  • Scarce complete set of a collection of plates depicting antique portrait busts from the collection of Frederick II of Prussia, some previously owned by Cardinal Melchior de Polignac. Frederick's collection was displayed in a purpose-built temple designed by Carl von Gontard in Sanssouci Park, Potsdam.
