Footnotes

  • Another manuscript of the first item is recorded by Nichols as in the collection of John Hopkinson, Illustrations of the Literary History of the Eighteenth Century, i (1817), p. 258, although without our reference to the transcript being commissioned by Robert Parker. We have found no record of publication. Loosely inserted is part of a late seventeenth manuscript leaf anent the Forest of Bowland: this points to the volume having belonged to the Parkers of Browsholme Hall, who were Bowbearers to the Lords of Bowland. The Stanley history has been identified in pencil as by John Seacome of Liverpool, although the text differs from his history published in 1735.
