A Chelsea Derby solitaire set, circa 1780-85
Painted in the French style with puce classical cupids holding various objects reserved on a gold lined ground, reserving small puce painted birds, comprising a bullet-shaped teapot and cover with wishbone handle, sucrier and cover, cream jug, cup and saucer and shaped tray, tray 25cm wide, teapot 11cm high, anchor and CD mark to tray, sucrier with anchor in gold (8)

  • See John Twitchett, Derby porcelain plate 159 for a similar sucrier and cover. This style of decoration is traditionally attributed to Richard Askew although clearly different hands contributed to this cabaret.
