An Urartian bronze bull
Circa 8th-7th Century B.C.
Stockily built with heavy hooves, standing foursquare with forelegs straight and hind-legs slightly flexed, the tubular tail at right-angles to the body, falling vertically down and ending in a flattened rectangular tail tip, with high curving horns and prominent ears at right angles to its body, the strong facial features with bulbous eyes and brows, well-detailed nostrils and mouth, incised muzzle skin creases, the wavy forelock shown as a rectangular wedge in raised relief, 6in (15.2cm) high, 5in (12.6cm) long
