A Roman marble draped figure of a young man
Circa 1st Century A.D.
After a Greek original of the 4th Century, probably a funerary stele, standing in contrapposto with the weight on his left leg, his right relaxed, his right arm raised probably to lean on something, wearing an ankle-length chiton with a long overfold, a himation over the top with tassles at the bottom edge, clasped at the right shoulder, the reverse carved, the ankles and feet carved in high relief out of an integral base, 29½in (75cm) high, mounted
