Late Period, circa 600 B.C.
Hollow cast, depicted seated upright with the forepaws together, the long tail curled around right side of the body, the details of the face incised, the left ear pierced with a bronze hoop earring, 10½in (26.5cm) high excluding tang, mounted

    Swedish private collection of Lars von Celsing (1916-2009), acquired in Cairo in 1972, whilst ambassador to Egypt.

    Accompanied by a copy of a metallurgical report.
