Woman with a Rose, Cafe d'Harcourt conté and gouache 21 x 12.8 cm. (8 1/4 x 5 in.) Executed circa 1908 (according to a label verso)
PROVENANCE: Margaret Morris With Ewan Mundy Fine Art, Glasgow

The Cafe de Harcourt was one of Fergusson's favourites in Montparnasse, where artists, seamstresses and milliners who might model their creations mixed in a convivial atmosphere. Fergusson sketched compulsively in pocket books in conte, but rarely heightened them with colour as seen here.
