Footnotes

  • In 1919 a hoard of native and Roman silver comprising of over 150 pieces was discovered at the Traprain Law near Edinburgh. It is widely thought that the haul was loot brought back from the Continent.

Brook & Sons; Hamilton & Inches' predecessor at 87 George Street, were the chosen silversmiths used to restore the haul and subsequently they made copies under license.
