A 17th century and later oak refectory table
The cleated top with four solid oak planks above a carved arcaded frieze, raised on six ring-turned columnar supports united by stretchers, 305cm wide, 90cm deep, 85cm high (120" wide, 35" deep, 33" high).

  • Provenance: Reputedly Rannoch Lodge, Perthshire.

    Included in the sale is a black and white photograph of the table in an antique dealers shop beneath which is the following typed inscription:
    'This is a 17th century carved oak refectory table, which was rescued from the big fire at Rannoch Lodge, Loch Rannoch. The leather studded chairs are of the Cromwellian period.'

    The 18th century Lodge was formerly the seat of the Menzies family. Former guests have included Andrew Carnegie, Winston Churchill and Elizabeth Taylor.
