A late Victorian silver coffee percolator
by R & W Sorley, Glasgow 1900
The cut corner rectangular base, on four bracket feet, issuing two gadrooned urns, the first on four elongated paw feet with shell bosses with burner below, the plain spiggot with ivory ball finial handle, the top with funnel shape neck and screw top lid with ivory ball finials, issuing a tube which terminates in the second urn with an elliptical strainer, crested, height 38cm.

  • The crest of the raven on a rock has been recorded for
    Macdonald (ancient Lords of the Isles) and MacDonald of McDonald.
    The motto 'My hope is constant in thee' with a different crest has been recorded for Macdonald of Glenandale, Invernesshire and Macdonald of Canada.
