Bearing Daoguang seal marks
Each bowl decorated on the exterior with four medallions reserved against a sgraffiato yellow-ground, each medallion containing a wooded landscape scene with huts and distant mountains, finely enamelled in grisaille with touches of famille rose, divided by pink and blue flowers on foliate scrolls, the interior each with eight iron-red and gilt ruyi-heads alternating with blue flowers radiating from a central floral medallion (one with hairline),

  • Provenance: acquired by Dashwood Poyntz Ricketts, Esq. (1859-1944), Engineer-in-Chief of the Pekin-Mukden Railway. Following his retirement in April 1922, on 15 March 1926 King George V granted Dashwood Poyntz Ricketts the right to wear the Insignia of the Fourth Class of the Order of the Excellent Crop. The decoration was conferred upon him by the President of the Republic of China in recognition of the valuable services rendered by him.
