A Victorian five piece silver tea service
by J.Mackay, Edinburgh 1835/40
Of inverted pear shape on four foliate feet and chased and embossed with flowerheads, foliage and c-scrolls, the hot water pot similarly decorated, on circular foot, the tray of shaped outline, with profusely engraved floral border, each with engraved monogram and presentation inscription for 1846, diameter of tray 40cm, weight 132oz.

    Presented By The Shareholders of The Isle of Mann Commercial Bank To William Dickie Esqr., their Manager in token of their approbation of His Faithful, Zealous & Successful Services in the Management Of The Banks Affairs Since It's Institution IN The Year 1838. July 1846.

    The teapot, cream jug and sugar bowl bear a shortened version of this inscription.
