A WWII hand-written ink letter by 'Snaffles'
From Orcheston Ho., Orcheston. S. Mary. Nr Salisbury, to his friend Old Bob, dated 17.4.43., including the lines, 'If The Kaiser & his General Staffs (?) had paid the price as they should have done, There would have been no Hitler Goering & Mussolini I am sure', 'The other day a convoy (?) of Spitfires playing follow my leader flew under some telephone wires they were on the convex of a hill otherwise I don't think they would have made it. We are often straddled by shell. They shoot right over the village.' and 'I prefer the Devon farm but this house is very comfortable and I have a good room to paint in in wet weather, further more getting to London is much easier.', signed, on each side of two pages, both with central vertical fold, each 11.5 x 17.5cm.
