Of oviform and relief decorated with a band of diaper like design of florets within octagonals above four main panels of archaistic taotie masks on a diaper ground over a lower register of down pointing palmettes, inlaid with details in gold and silver, (base and cover lacking),

Footnotes

  • The inlaid work is achieved by the laborious method of first hatching the chosen area by hand to create a series of serrations into which the precious metal is the hammered into before smoothing and polishing.
