A George III silver twin handled tea urn
By John Cowie, London 1814
Of compressed circular form on four elongated bracket legs with foliate terminals and paw feet to a shaped square base resting on four bun feet with central flame finial, the lower body of the urn gadrooned, the upper body with engraved inscription, with plain neck and everted fluted rim, the reeded handles with scrolling shell terminals, the spigot with barrel shape ivory handle flanked by dolphins, the pull off lid with cast St Michael archangel finial, the interior fitted with removable heating rod with twin handles and pierced rim which is engraved, with pull off removable lid, cased within fitted wooden box, key present, height 33cm, weight without heating rod 70.33oz.
