Footnotes

  • At first glance this pair of chairs, along with the contemporary set of dining chairs that follow, share much in common with documented chairs by William Trotter of Edinburgh. However, the use of solid rosewood, some of the incised carving on the top-rail, and the engine turned castors suggest that these chairs may be Colonial.
