A waterline model of the Passenger ferry PS Lord of the Isles 1891
Built by J Garven Wood in 1993. Composite hull, painted black to the waterline with decorated paddle boxes and open gallery. Cream decks with inscribed plank lines and white superstructure. Details include open bridge with wheel, binnacle and semaphore, passenger benches and ship's boats on davits. Set on a painted, moulded sea in an acrylic case. 35x8.5x10ins. (89x22x25cm)

Footnotes

  • Built by D&W Henderson, Partick, for the Glasgow and Inverary Steamboat Co. and when built was the largest Clyde steamer. In 1912 she was bought by Turbine Steamers, her rivals, to remove her from competition on the Clyde routes. She finally ended her service as an excursion steamer for Mac Braynes. She was scrapped in 1928.
