An early 20th century Arts and Crafts gem-set pendant necklace, by A.H. Anderson for the Elverhoj Colony
The wide navette-shaped plaque set with a triangular-shaped opal, in closed back-setting, within an intricate openwork scrolling surround accented by circular-cut gemstones including sapphires, chrysoberyl, and aquamarine, suspended from two similar plaques, to a figaro-link chain, signed Elverhoj, lengths: pendant 6.5cm, chain 45.8cm

  • The Elverhoj Colony was one of four Arts and Crafts colonies in New York State, which was open from 1913 to 1939 in Milton-on-the-Hudson, New York. The colony's purpose was primarily educational and focused on jewellery making. A.H. Anderson, a Danish-born American, was one of the two founding members of the colony.
