The oval onyx cameo, carved to depict the double portrait in profile of Queen Victoria and the Prince consort, within a cushion-shaped diamond border, mounted in silver and gold, diamonds approx. 0.85ct total, length 2.6cm

  • By repute, formerly the property of Princess Alice of Albany, Granddaughter of Queen Victoria then passed to her daughter Lady May Abel Smith née Cambridge and hence by descent to the current owner. The design first used on medals by William Wyon created for the Great Exhibition of 1851. A similar double portrait onyx cameo depicting Queen Victoria and Prince Albert is part of Victoria & Albert Museum Jewellery Collection, Museum Number M.180-1976.
