A collection of rare chrysoberyl jewels, 2nd half of the 18th century
Comprising: a parure consisting of choker, earrings and brooches, the choker with central ribbon bow motif on an articulated garland chain, suspending a long pendent drop of similar garland design, terminating in a tulip pendant, accompanied by a pair of stylised floral earrings (pendants deficient) and a pair of bow brooches; an aigrette of stylised comet design, later mounted as a brooch; a ring; a pendant with bow surmount suspending an oval locket with gold beadwork decoration, all set throughout with vari-cut chrysoberyls in closed-back silver and gold settings, rubbed assay marks probably French, one chrysoberyl deficient to one of the bow brooches, one chrysoberyl deficient to locket/pendant, choker length 32.0cm, comet brooch length 9.0cm, ring size K, pendant/locket length 7.5cm, choker, earrings and brooches in tooled leather case (7)
