    It is possible the painter of this portrait can be identified with Edward Haytley, who, according to Ellis Waterhouse 'painted portraits on the scale of life' and spelt his name 'Heatley' as well as 'Haytley' (see: E. Waterhouse, The Dictionary of British 18th Century Painters in Oils and Crayons (Suffolk, 1981), p. 166).
