  • This view of Venice falls into the same category as those that Dr. Dario Succi suggests are by Niccolò Guardi. It may be compared favourably with the View of the Rialto Bridge on the Grand Canal, which was sold at Phillip's, London, 6 December 1994, lot 18. The latter painting was sold with a certificate by Dr. Dario Succi. The present painting also shows the influence of Francesco Guardi, both in the figures in the right foreground, and those in the gondola.
