Footnotes

  • Partnered with another legend, Peter Revson, and co-driving a Porsche 908, Steve McQueen took the lead in the 1970 Sebring 12-Hour endurance race with just 21 laps to the finish. The duo looked set for an unlikely victory but were forced to concede to Mario Andretti's factory Ferrari 512S. Finishing just 22 seconds adrift of the victorious Ferrari, the McQueen/Revson Porsche still managed to win the Prototype Class.
