Two Tibetan thangkas
One depicting a roaring three-eyed and pig-nosed Mahakala with a vajra in the right hand and a parasol in the left and wearing a belt of human heads suspending a tiger skin and standing on two naked human figures, surrounded by other incarnations ranging from fiercesome deities and leopards feeding on corpses at the bottom to serene deities floating on clouds at the top, silk frame and cover, Ming Dynasty, 53cm x 36cm (20 7/8in x 14 1/8in); the other depicting a dark-skinned animalistic deity raising up a vajra in the right hand and a human-headed dagger in the left, seated atop a snarling tiger crouching on top of two human figures, the figure above Buddhist acolytes circumambulating a stupa and surrounded by further palaces amid mountains filled with Buddhist followers, silk frame and cover, 18th/19th century, 46cm x 33cm (18in x 13in).
