Each decorated with three lunette panels of putti and maidens emblematic of purity, vanity and plenty, one leaning beside an overturned vessel, one with cornucopia, the other with mirror, leaning against pedestal signed in cameo ABirks, reserved on a scrolling raised gilt ground, crowned globe Minton's mark within circle inscribed Spaulding & Co., Chicago, over MADE IN ENGLAND, impressed MINTONS and various ciphers, painted gilt number H/2242 and triangle enclosing dot.

  • Albion Birks began working with the Minton firm after leaving school and remained at the company for nearly 60 years. Studying under Louis Solon, Birks became one of Mintons most active pâte-sur-pâte artists and was associated with the development of pâte-sur-pâte table and dessert wares.
