the circular tilt top with a central specimen timber chess board and border made from native Australian timbers including, cedar, musk, casuarina, cypress pine, eucalypt, silky oak, beefwood or banksia and coachwood, supported on a tapering barley-twist column on a circular platform base with acanthus leaf and empty shield carved collar, raised on three carved feet, with paper label to the underside of top, 'FROM/ R.T. CARTER,/Formerly of Jno. HILL & Co./CABINET,/UPHOLSTERY,/Bedstead and Bedding/WAREHOUSE,/SYDNEY./ No 404 GEORGE STREET, FIVE DOORS NORTH OF KING**', 66cm in diameter, 73cm high (25.5" in diameter, 28.5" high).
