Representing a gentleman and a woman in 18th century dress, the gentleman incised with the number 87, the woman with 136, each with a parcel giltwood pedestal base.
height of figures 51 1/2in and 49in (131cm and 125cm); height of each base 34 1/2in (87.5cm)

Gossin Freres denotes the collaboration between Etienne Gossin (d. 1900) and Louis Gossin, who exhibited at the Paris Salons of 1877, 1882 and 1886, winning gold medals at the last two.
