Footnotes

  • Wang Xisan (1938-), learned inside painting from Ye Bengqi and Ye Xiaofeng, following the style of Ye Zhongsan. In 1967, he established his own school, the Ji school, with many new students. By using transitional Chinese ink and colour, oil colour and acrylic colour, he tended to have detail brushstrokes, various subject matter and delicate composition. This is a particularly early example, before he established his own school.
