A moulded porcelain 'lotus leaf and butterflies' snuff bottle
Qing dynasty Of flattened spherical form, the sides modelled with four branches of beribboned lotus stems, outstretched to both sides forming a lotus leaf and blossom, each side with a flying butterfly, all enamelled in vivid colours of green, yellow, purple, blue and red. 5.9cm high.
This group of moulded bottles was usually painted by hand, so the shape was closely related but with slightly different in colour or painting style. For another moulded 'lotus' snuff bottles, with similar moulded shape but different colour of paint, see an example from the Mary and George Bloch collection, illustrated in Moss, Graham and Tsang, A Treasury of Chinese Snuff Bottles: The Mary and George Bloch Collection, Vol.6, Hong Kong, 2008, pp.520-521, no.1233, and sold in these rooms, 28 November 2011, lot 119. See also an example from the Denis Low collection, illustrated in Chinese Snuff Bottles from the Sanctum of Enlightened Respect III, Singapore, 2007, p.240, no. 207.
此類煙壺多以同一個模模製而成，後配以人手上色，因此形製上一致，但顏色上會略有不同。其他模製莲花蝴蝶鼻煙壺的例子，可參考莫士撝, Victor Graham 及曾嘉寶著，《A Treasury of Chinese Snuff Bottles: The Mary and George Bloch Collection》，第6冊，頁520-521，編號1233，此藏品其後拍賣於香港邦瀚斯，瑪麗及莊智博鼻煙壺珍藏：第四部份，2011年11月28日，拍品編號119。另一件屬Dennis S. K. Low藏品的，可參見《Chinese Snuff Bottles from the Sanctum of Enlightened Respect III》，新加坡，2007，頁240，編號207。
