An Yixing 'landscape and floral' snuff bottle
Qing dynasty, 1790-1850
Of compressed rectangular section rising from an oval foot to a cylindrical neck, the exterior intricately carved on the reddish-brown clay with wondrous landscape scenes with a pavilion amongst blossoming prunus on one side and further flowering plants and leafy sprays on the reverse, all enclosed within panels, the sides, neck and foot enamelled with a rich mottled green glaze.
