A moulded 'famille-rose' porcelain 'boy and double-gourd' snuff bottle
Late Qing dynasty / Republican period, Qianlong gilt six-character mark Modelled as a playful boy in a squatting position clambering a double-gourd, depicted with delightful face, smiling red lips and a tuft of hair at the forehead, the gourd enamelled with lotus flowers and scrolls in gilt. 4.2cm high.

See also an example from the Mary and George Bloch Collection, illustrated by Moss, Graham and Tsang, A Treasury of Chinese Snuff Bottles, The Mary and George Bloch Collection, Vol.6, Hong Kong, 2008, p.912, no.1435, and sold in these rooms, 28 November 2011, lot 128. The Bloch bottle differs from the current lot in that the mark is inscribed in iron-red.
