Late Qing dynasty / early Republican period, 1830-1920 Of compressed globular form rising from an oval foot to a cylindrical neck with archaistic handles flanking at the sides, both sides engraved with a three-clawed dragon in pursuit of a flaming pearl amongst swirling clouds. 6cm high.
The apocryphal inscription reads 'Shunzhi sannian Cheng Rongzhang zao' ('Made by Cheng Rongzhang in the third year of the Shunzhi reign').
