Footnotes

  • As early as in Sir William Bragge's book, Bibliotheca Nicotiana, which was first published in 1874 and republished in 1880, fossilised limestone snuff bottles were already recorded. The production of fossilised limestone snuff bottle existed as early as the mid-nineteenth century. For more detailed research, see Moss, Graham and Tsang, A Treasury of Chinese Snuff Bottles: The Mary and George Bloch Collection, Vol.3, Hong Kong, 1998, pp.85-87, no.401. Another similar fossilised limestone snuff bottle, with similar white markings on a dark ground, is illustrated by Bob Stevens, Snuff Bottles, New York, 1976, p.175, pl.676.

詳細有關灰石鼻煙壺斷代研究,可參見莫士撝, Victor Graham 及曾嘉寶著,《A Treasury of Chinese Snuff Bottles: The Mary and George Bloch Collection》,第3冊,頁85-87,編號401。
