Footnotes

  • The auspicious design here is referred to as hai wu tian shou, which literally translates as 'may the ancient house for storing changes bring the longevity'. The inscriptions express the blessings of longevity.

See a rock-crystal 'Buddhist Emblems' snuff bottle of almost identical form from the Mary and George Bloch collection, illustrated by Moss, Graham and Tsang, A Treasury of Chinese Snuff Bottles: The Mary and George Bloch Collection, Vol.2, Hong Kong, 1998, p.416, no.334.

參看瑪麗及莊智博收藏另外一件清中期水晶雕八吉祥鼻煙壺,其形制及雕刻工藝都與本壺相類,莫士撝, Victor Graham 及曾嘉寶著,《A Treasury of Chinese Snuff Bottles: The Mary and George Bloch Collection》,第2冊,第二部份,頁416,編號334。
