D*Face defines his style as aPOPcalyptic, and aims to combine the repetitive, non-political aesthetic of Pop Art with a more subversive undertone. His work is inhabited by a family of dysfunctional comic-strip characters, many of whom first appeared as stickers which the artist placed around his local area, later developing them into larger scale posters and street installations. D*Face's art consistently forces the viewer into reassessing their daily media-fed diet of celebrity and consumption, reusing and reworking well-known images in a surprising, sometimes shocking context. His dark reinterpretation of the American Dream has resulted in unforgettable images of cadaverous superheroes and movie stars, while art-world superstars such as Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat, and even the Queen of England, have also become unwitting subjects of his arch humour.
