Hon-zukuri, iori-mune, ko-gissaki, koshi-zori with a ko-itame forging pattern, a gunome-midare tempered edge and a ko-maru boshi, the tang ubu, kuri-jiri with kessho file marks and signed and dated Osaka ju Gassan Sadakazu [] [] Meiji sanjuhachi-nen gogatsu kichijitsu (An auspicious day in the fifth month of 1905); one-piece gilt-copper habaki; 25 5/8in (65.1cm) long

In daisho koshirae comprising black-lacquer saya decorated with sparse aoigai and fitted with shakudo nanako-ji kozuka and kogai decorated with blossoming plums and birds in flight in iroe taka-zogan; the tsukas with shibuichi migaki-ji fuchi decorated with craggy cherry trees before a circular window in iroe taka-zogan and with horn kashira; gilt menuki; daisho shibuichi migaki-ji Somin-school plate tsuba carved with tigers in bamboo and shishi, the sho signed Sada[] and kakihan
