Kitae (forging pattern): running ko-itame
Hamon (tempering pattern): gunome-choji-midare with ashi
Boshi (tip): midare-komi, ko-maru with a short return
Nakago (tang): ubu, kuri-jiri with one hole, suji-kai file marks and signed Shinkei Tanemitsu tsukuru and dated Keio san-nen ni-gatsu bi (A day in the second month of 1867)
Habaki (collar): one-piece, gold-foil
Nagasa (length from tip to beginning of tang): 29 1/2in (74.9cm)
Motohaba (width at start of tempered edge): 1 1/4in (3.2cm)
Sakihaba (width before tip): 1in (2.5cm)
In shirasaya (wood storage scabbard) with sayagaki, signed and dated by Tanobe Michihiro
