Hira-zukuri, iori-mune forged in ko-itame-hada and with an even sugu-ba hamon, the omote carved with shin-no-kurikara and the ura with kensaku, tang ubu with o-suji-kai file marks and two holes; one-piece gold and shakudo habaki; 15in (38.1cm) long

In koshirae comprising a red and black-lacquer striped saya mounted with a silver kojiri carved as a Chinese lion, the eyes picked out in gold, and a copper ring-style kurikata boldly carved as an oni, a copper, gold and shakudo kozuka decorated with confronted birds in iroe taka-zogan; the tsuka "wrapped" in copper thread and fitted with shakudo menuki carved with gamboling Chinese lions and copper and shakudo fuchi-gashira carved with chrysanthemums; oval shakudo tanto tsuba decorated with a pine tree in taka-bori and taka-zogan

With Tokubetsu Kicho Tosogu (Sword fitting especially worthy of preserving) certificate no. 109 issued by the Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai (The Society for the Preservation of the Japan Art Sword), dated 1974.6.3.
