Hon-zukuri, iori-mune, chu-gissaki, torii-zori, forged in ko-itame, the tempered edge sugu-ba, the boshi ko-maru; the tang ubu, kuri-jiri with two holes and suji-kai file marks, signed Fujiwara Nagashige two-piece gilt-copper habaki; 20 1/2in (52cm) long

The koshirae comprising an aogai-nuri saya mounted with shakudo nanako-ji saya-jiri and seme-gane and fitted with a shakudo nanako-ji kozuka decorated with figures on a river barge in iroe taka-zogan; the tsuka with warrior menuki in gold and shakudo and shakudo migaki-ji fuchi-gashira decorated with "lightning" patterns and paulownia crests in gold hira-zogan; the iron Bushu tsuba carved with stylized confronted dragons
